I would be lying if I said the past four months haven’t been hectic and headache inducing. But damn, they were the best four months I’ve ever had in my life.
I’ll start off with summer. I wasn’t planning on including it here because I reckon it would be a bit crammed fitting all of three months, plus September, into one post. But I thought ‘fuck it’, I’ve written longer, ramble-y-er posts before. Why the heck not?
First and foremost, I started this blog in the summer! June 3rd, to be exact, and I can’t believe how fast time’s flown by. I have a grand total of 74 followers as I’m typing up this post—which may seem like such a tiny number compared to all the other blogs I follow, but it was way more than I was expecting to achieve by this point. So thank you all so much for following and reading my words and also for liking and leaving nice words on my posts. It really means the world to me!
I chopped off my hair after letting it grow for almost a whole year. I never really liked having long hair (though there was a time I let it reach my waist but let’s not talk about that), but haircuts are ridiculously expensive in Bath. So I decided to wait until I arrived back in Indonesia to cut it. The thing was I’d grown (heh) rather attached to my not-very-long hair at that point—I was actually hesitant to do it. I’m so glad I did it in the end! It frames my face a lot better and I’ve received so many compliments because of it.
I met up with my friends from school as well and, oh my god, I have missed them so much! I haven’t seen them in nearly a year because we all left for university or college in our respective country of choice around the same time and our only means of communications since then has only been through group chats and the occasional Skype call—which, frankly, was 5% actual conversation and 95% “can you hear me?” and “oh my god, my internet is so shit!”
So we met up a bunch of times and, of course, a thousand selfies ensued. I won’t post all of them because a) this post would never end otherwise and b) I look like the poop emoji personified in a lot of them and I gotta maintain whatever dignity I have left by not posting those.
I also went to Singapore twice during the summer—once with my sister and the other with the rest of the family. Truth be told, I don’t really remember what I did there, but I wrote a little something about the first trip so check it out. Here’s a preview:
And I didn’t write anything for the second trip. However, I did take some v aesthetic pictures:
My grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary this September. They’ve been married to each other for fifty whole years—half a damn century!—and I’ve yet to find someone who can stand my presence for longer than fifty seconds. What?
I will say, though, I looked hella fly during the celebration.
I also joined my first ever blogging challenges: #ReadThemAllThon (a Pokémon-themed read-a-thon created by Aentee @ ReadatMidnight) and #Blogwarts (a Harry Potter-inspired inter-blog contest hosted by Anthony @ AVeryAwkwardBlog). Such reading, very friendship, much fun!
Randomly, on Twitter, I did the #100happydays challenge. Basically, what I needed to do was post a picture (or status) of whatever made me happy for a hundred days straight. It was good fun, made me appreciate life a bit more, and I got plenty of aesthetic shots of the sky. If you want to check out my pictures, then head on over here.
Last but not least—and I know I’ve mentioned this about 8453589 times on my blog but fuck it I was so, so, so, so happy this happened—I went to see Simple Plan live! And I got to meet them as well! They were—and still are—incredible and I would not trade that moment for anything in the world!
And then it’s time to go back to good ole England. Second year hasn’t even begun, but I’ve been so busy and socialising so much it almost feels like I’m properly back. Like what??
So here’s a rundown of what went on in the few weeks before uni starts. I went on a day trip to Bristol with my mum and visited Cabot Tower and Clifton Suspension Bridge,
then I went to see The Moscow State Circus with a couple of friends,
signed up to become a Fresher’s Buddy,
joined a memorial walk with the LGBTQ+ society as part of Fresher’s Week,
and moved into my new accommodation. I don’t actually have pictures of my room, but I promise a room tour post is coming in the future. So have these selfies for now. Why? Because they give you a glimpse of my room and I just wanted to show off how amazing the lighting is in here. Also, I look great, so there’s that.
I’ve also been to a couple performance poetry readings, attended society meetings (one of which was by accident), and volunteered for all sorts of events provided by the university. It’s insane how proactive (this is legit something new, I am not kidding) and busy I am already—especially considering the fact that I’ve only been back in the country for two weeks!—and I can only imagine how much of that insanity will be dialled up when second year actually begins, so #prayforDev.
TREAT YO SELF!!
I spent a disgusting amount of money over the summer and, somehow, even more so in September. It’s ridiculous. Like I’m not really going to complain because it is really cool stuff, but dear god my materialistic side really gets the best (or worst) of me sometimes.
I bought a shit tonne of clothes,
an obscene amount of makeup,
and many, many books—some of which I somehow, stupidly, left behind. Like I swear I’ve packed them already and yet they’re not here??
Because I’m including all the music I discovered and/or enjoyed during the summer + the month of September, this will be a long-ass list.
The Arena – Lindsey Stirling
Breakaway – Artist Vs Poet
Fire – PVRIS
Genesis – Natewantstobattle
Gone Too Soon – Simple Plan
The Hamilton original Broadway soundtrack, particularly:
– Alexander Hamilton
– Wait For It (the most relatable shit I’ve ever listened to in my life)
– Yorktown (Mulligan’s bit is fucking fire!)
– Non-Stop (which I’ve listened to non-stop)
– Right Hand Man
– It’s Quiet Uptown
How to Be a Heartbreaker – Marina and the Diamonds
Is She With You? – Hans Zimmer & Junkie XL
Let Love Bleed Red – Sleeping With Sirens (actually discovered way before summer, but loved it all over again this month)

If you made it this far into my post, then thank you for reading! Thank you again for all the continuous support and I hope you’ll stick around for longer. Let me know in the comments if you enjoyed your summer or the month of September and I’ll see you all soon in the month of Halloween 🎃💀👻
Until next time,
